The IB Programme

The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end the organization works with schools, governments, and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate, and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right
The IB Difference
  • Character Education (the IB Learner Profile)
  • Service Learning (connecting community service to the classroom)
  • International Mindedness (thinking global, acting local)
  • The Whole Student (valuing how all the courses a student is taking connects)
IB for Everyone:  Flexibility, Equity, and Access
IB offers a range of approaches for students to enter into the IB experience including...
  • taking one course is strongly encouraged (research shows that taking even 1 IB course greatly increases your chances of going on to college)
  • entering a course at Standard Level (SL) or Higher Level (HL) to accommodate learning needs
  • participating in the Career Certificate (which has a smaller impact on your 4 year map)
  • earning the IB Diploma (the most rigorous offering in IB that greatly increases your chances of acceptance into competitive colleges and universities)
