Deanna Whalen-American Sign Language

Hello ASL Students and Families,

My name is Deanna Whalen and I teach American Sign Language and Deaf culture here at Fallbrook High School. This is my sixth year teaching at FHS! In previous years, I have taught ASL levels 1-4 and this year I am teaching ASL levels 2-4. ASL is a beautiful language with it’s own grammatical structure, culture and community. I am so happy to share my love and passion of this language and culture with my students.

I have been lucky enough to have started learning ASL in high school, continued through college where I earned an AA in American Sign Language and English Interpreting, thus prompting me to become an Educational Interpreter in the high school setting. I continued my education and received my BA in Organizational Leadership from Azusa Pacific, and my Single Subject-ASL credential from National University.

As a Fallbrook alumni, I can truly say: Once a Warrior, Always a Warrior.

I look forward to working with you this year and throughout your ASL education at Fallbrook High.
